Fresh install this morning

Seemed to work fine until I decided to really populate the images directory, as soon as I have subdirectories, the album fails to work properly, subfolders show up without an image and once clicked on it's content is not right and no thumbnails exists.

images folder looks like this

images/filip/(6 images)
images/filip/oko(6 images)
images/alice.wonderland(18 images, 2 videos)

you may look at it here: http://ww2.marcchampagne.com:27277/album/main.php?cmd=album

The images in the folder

The images in the folder alice.wonderland show up. The Images in filip and filip/oko don't.
The folder filip and filip/oko, do they have the permissions set to 777?
But you also say that the folder images/filip contains 6 images and the folder images/filip/oko contains 6 images. However, when I look at the folders, I see 18 images and 2 videos with the same picture numbers as alice.wonderland folder.

Did you do a scan of the directories and/or clear the cache folder through setup?

Seems like there is something corrupted, but I don't know which file it is.

new install

I tried many things, if you visit again, I just reinstalled fresh again (zapped everything first) and then did the following steps.

move config_change_it.php to config.php (kept the default data/ )
created data/, cache/ and images/ folders
populated the images/ folders (same as in my original post)
chmod -R 777 * /var/www/album
chown -R www-data * /var/www/album
chgrp -R www-data * /var/www/album
loaded main.php in the browser
login admin/admin
setup
change admin password, set email, save
main setup: set the cache and images folders, save
galleries: Scan Directories Now!

didn't do anything else

I still see the same as i

I still see the same as i posted earlier

You say you kept the default data and then you created another data folder?
And did you put then the old data folder content in the new data-folder?
After scanning directories did you then also save configuration?

I'm not familiar with command-line changing of permissions so i can't help you on that if it's done right or wrong.

Is the data path in your config.php the correct path?

> You say you kept the default data and then you created another data folder?

although the config defaults to 'data/' you still do need to create the directory.

Basically, those 3 lines ensure all files and directories within the phpalbum's
install folder are set to 777 and that owner and group are also set to web
server's username of www-data. ( -R = recursive )

I've been fiddling around

I've been fiddling around with changing photo-folders and data-folder and it seems to me it has something to do with the content in the data-folder but I'm not sure about that. Perhaps Patrick could shine a little light on your problem.

By the way, when you do an install without copying the data-dir, but creat one, will the photos then show up?

Will try your idea for what it's worth

No, nothing shows up as expected

There are some other topics

There are some other topics with a sort of similar problem and they have to do something with memory and the sizes of the images.

But I find it strange that I see more files in the given folders than you say there are.
I wanted to visit your site to check, but I got an error message:

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '=', expecting ')' in /var/www/album/main.php on line 106

I was fiddling around with it before bed last night and left it broke, just did another fresh install, you may visit it should you like too.

Marc

The album filip shows up

The album filip shows up correctly (6 pictures), only the sub-album Oko shows no pictures and counts the same as alice.wonderland album.
So there is some improvement in comparison with about 14 hours ago ;-)

Luck of the draw

It's just luck of the draw, this time Filip show 6 pictures.

I reinstalled often, following the exact same procedure, sometimes it works, sometimes not.

Maybe Patrick could shine

Maybe Patrick could shine his light on your problem. He is the one who made phpAlbum

phpAlbum

phpAlbum seems extremely fast and am very interested in it, been using gallery2 for the past 2 years or so but can't stand the slowness of it anymore.
