how to link directly to a folder contents

I am developing a site, and locally, when I set up an link to http://localhost/mysite/php/
and main.php runs, which brings me to “/photos_10fa3e1e “ which in setup is my “album directory”. In this directory I have several folders containing images and sounds, and main.php displays all the folders with their assigned icons. This is exactly what it is supposed to do.

However, in the site I am developing, I have a pull-down menu system, and the categories within that system represent the folders located within the directory “photos_10fa3e1e”. In a sense, I need to have several main.php's that will bring me to specific folders within the directory “photos_10fa3e1e”, and display the thumbnails for each image file within that directory. In other words, I want to be able to skip the display of thumbnails for each directory, go directly to specific directories, depending on which item of the pull-down menu I choose, and represent the contents (thumbnails) of that specific directory,.

I hope this makes sense...

I assume I have to edit main.php, and create a few of them (main1.php, main2.php, etc) so each will point to the right directory, or something. I am, as you can probably tell, new to php.

Any help you can offer is greatly appreciated!!

I think the easiest way to do this would to use the parameter var1 with specific folder name for main.php.
You just have to use the same link as you get when you go in to that folder. It could be like following:

and so on ... but may be I just did not understand what you really want.

Thanks, getting closer! my

Thanks, getting closer!
my link looks like this:

  • Ayo
  • And "Prayers" is a directory name.
php loads one blank square for each thumbnail, not the thumbnail image, but a white square. When I click on a "thumbnail" it brings me to a page that sez:

You are not allowed view this page or download this image! This part of it was working before.

    What do you think?
