"real" database access

Description

The php flatfile database is OK and all, but it won't actually scale very well, plus I'm not so sure it will arbitrate concurrent R/W access to information.

It may be a good idea to abandon the flatfile, and use a more generic SQL engine. If you use an abstraction layer, PHP has a few, it can scale with SQLite or PostgreSQL. (I guess you could use MySQL, but that wouldn't be my choice)

I may be willing to write and contribute the code if there is a general willingness to incorporate it.
