Photo Administrator problems...

Hi, I just installed phpAlbum on my site, but when I first access the setup page, there is a yellow box under the Photo Administrator with the following error:

WARNING:FTP-Support is not enabled!! You are not able to use admin section.
Ask your provider to enable or install it.

I've asked my provider, and he told me that everything *is* enabled...and that it should work just fine...but it doesn't. Also, the picture at the top of the setup page does not work.

I would appreciate any help.

Thanks,
~Kitrax

It would be nice if you

It would be nice if you could send me your phpinfo() page to check your setup. If you do not know how to do it, just send me the linko to you page and the admin password.

I've checked with my provider...

Ok, I checked with my provider, and this is what he had to say:

I don't have access to modify server settings there, I can't enable ftp support in PHP. I'm guessing that this is considered a security risk and disabled for that reason on the server in question.

I'll check if this can be enabled there, but my guess would be not.

In the meantime, you should check with the script's author if having the ftp module enabled is a hard requirement for the script to function, or if it can simply be turned off (I'm guessing that this is the case).

A few hours later, he sent me another email with this bit of info:

I've checked with the server provider and they did put the ftp module on the wanted features list for implementation, but there is no ETA on when (or even if) they will actually install it.

So I guess what it comes down to is, does FTP support *have* to be enabled/installed, or is there a workaround for it?

Workaround: Use any other

Workaround: Use any other ftp client software for uplaoding photos.

Photos administrator in phpAlbum is only thought as workaround if you do not have access to some ftp client or if you are not familiar with it. There are people with no computer knowledges and they want easy way to uplaod pictures, that is why i did that ... but it needs the ftp module.
