Server files moved - program now very slow

After several great years, my provider moved my website to a new server and new FTP server.
Since then, everything seems to work (except the screen background color)but is deadly slow. I changed the FTP info in setup, but feel that maybe old files now on the new server are causing delays.
Which files can I SAFELY delete so they can re-generate with only up-to-date server info? I don't want to lose all the page headings and descriptions that were on before.

Thanks, Don

more on server change disaster

The GlassicAnnex.org album continues to operate at a snail's pace. 15 seconds to close setup, and generally over 10 seconds to open any new page, compared to one second or less for the rest of the website. Thumbnail creation for a page of pics goes over a minute long.

Today, (5/2) my next auto scan said "07 april 2010" -- possibly the date that they changed the server. -- and manual scanning of the directories does not seem to work.

I recall similar problems when they changed servers once before. I know that the dates of file creation were all on the date of the changed server, not the original file date.

I deleted the old cache and it seems to be generating new thumbnails ok.

I also have tons of errors like below in my error log - along with a few others. I suspect something with the file dates or permissions might be at work here.

shoot in the dark.

Try this,

Log into the Admin and ensure your in the Pictures area.
Then go to your album then data, Delete the album_directory.php then create a file the same name and then do a rescan,

Although your Pictures seem to be in the same place they are in fact been moved and may not be in the same place on the HARD DRIVE on the server.

IE, Move your sitting room around and ask the blind man too find the settee without telling him its moved. Simple I know. But its something too think about.

Solution worked - sort of.

Hey - Thanks for that suggestion. First, I did NOT delete the file, but re-named it, just in case. As it turned out, my scan then yielded nothing. It finally occurred to me that I had not set the permissions and when I tried again with the permissions set at 666 -- It seems to have worked.

EXCEPT that I lost all of the counts of previous views and all of the album headings and comments. Do you think that they are still in there somewhere? Anyhow, if it makes it through its automatic re-scan tomorrow, I will be set, minus the folder headings and other settings (such as which pic is used as a folder picture).

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. Don
