Notification new users and custom fields

Hello,

I have been using this phpAlbum for some time now and I really like it! I do have two questions:

1. Is it possible to get a notification mail when someone registers on the site? I would like to get a mail from the software whenever someone registers on the site so that I can go to the administration utility and set a group on the new user. Without mail it is not so easy to remember to do it.

2. I want to add custom fields to user accounts, I searched the forum and found out that it is possible. But I would like to know if I can do this with my current database since or if I have to start from the beginning.
