installation of phpAlbum

I am using Wampserver package which includes Apache2, MySQL, and php. I am trying to learn php and I ran into phpAlbum which is cool and this is what I had in mind (to serve the photos to my friends and relatives all over the world from my own "at home" server).
After downloading phpAlbum and tried to follow the installation process such as copy the content of the unzipped files, copied the whole content to phpAlbum, changed the config.php and added 2 new folders data_xyz/ & cache_xyz/ below phpAlbum, etc....
From Internet browser, I entered "localhost/phpAlbum" and nothing... I did a view source, then it showed the content of index.php from phpAlbum.
The page is blank, no Login link as specified in the Installation guide.

-What had I done incorrectly, I did verify that the 2 newly created directories (data_xyz & cache_xyz) had all permissions.
